It seems like I should share my attitude towards modern technologies.
Several years ago I've used Vosk to transform 30+ audio records to text to help my wife while she was taking her training courses. Text quality was not great but acceptable.
This is the only case I was using AI in my life (not sure AI is the right term here, it was offline use of Vosk models, no prompts, agents or something like that).
I have not used AI to develop software in the past, I do not use it in the present and I will not use it in the future.
I do not like AI being used by other software developers either.
And I will try to minimize my use of software developed using AI (hard task, though).
Codeberg is a platform I'm gradually migrating to from GitHub. You can read their article, which I completely agree with, explaining Codeberg's stance on AI.
I do not like AI being developed at all.
And yes, as a developer I see a threat to myself from its use in software development.
Another technology I find questionable. The idea of "making money out of nothing" seems unnatural to me.
It's elder than AI but I've never wanted to try it and will not use it in the future.
As a software developer, I don't want to develop any programs using this technology.
This is my personal list of things that I don't want to use in development and operation, and I try to minimize their use (in no particular order):
systemd - it breaks Unix way of doing things,docker - complicates workflow,react and it's ecosystem - jsx is a mess to me,angular - overcomplicated web framework,ansible - using yaml to copy file is so strange,FastAPI and Pydantic - too loud of being "fast, high-performance and simple".This is not a final list and I will return to it from time to time.
Let's make world a little bit better place to live. We just need to slow down and look around.
